Uncertainty is not a weakness in science. It is often part of the process.

One study can provide useful evidence without settling an entire medical question. Findings may later be strengthened, challenged or refined by larger studies, different populations and additional analysis.

Health reporting becomes misleading when preliminary evidence is described as certainty or association is presented as causation.

A more useful approach explains what researchers know, what they do not yet know and what evidence would be needed to answer the remaining questions.
